This is a set of 3 separate 4cm square pieces, framed together to transition from the light reflective surface of the recycled compact disc at the top to the heavier weight and texture of Scottish Slate at the bottom.
I like to think of the fact that in the past, children learned to write on slates or tablets, we moved forwards to recording or writing data on compact discs or DVDs, and now many children are given electronic 'tablets' at school.
